Raspberry Pi Tor/Vidalia issues

last year
Hi All,

I have installed Vidalia, tor and polipo via sudo apt-get install from the repositories. When I try to start Vidalia from the GUI I can open the program just fine but it shoots up several error messages why it can't connect to the network. Can you please check them out and advise what I can do to connect to tor? It will be greatly appreciated.

The messages are:
Aug 28 21:58:00.388 [Warning] Could not bind to 127.0.0.1:9050: Address already in use. Is Tor already running?
Aug 28 21:58:00.389 [Warning] Permissions on directory /var/run/tor are too permissive.
Aug 28 21:58:00.391 [Warning] Before Tor can create a control socket in "/var/run/tor/control", the directory "/var/run/tor" needs to exist, and to be accessible only by the user account that is running Tor. (On some Unix systems, anybody who can list a socket can connect to it, so Tor is being careful.)
Aug 28 21:58:00.392 [Warning] Failed to parse/validate config: Failed to bind one of the listener ports.
Aug 28 21:58:00.394 [Error] Reading config failed--see warnings above.

Any ideas? I am running Raspbian and I have Chromium installed which I believe can start after vidalia and be torified.

The command you use should be this?
/usr/bin/chromium --proxy-server="socks5://127.0.0.1:9050"

Thanks.
