tor breaks download when switching identity

So, if I start to d/l a file, and then click on "new id", the d/l is broken. I seem to remember this not being the case a while ago, but I havent used tor in a bit, and have just d/l-ed th new version.

I looked for an option that would handle this, but could not find anything.

Ideas? Thanks!

Hmm. New ID means new ExitNode, right?
And new ExitNode means new IP-address. Exit Nodes barely live on the same computer.

So the only explanation is that your downloading continues via old ExitNode, while new one is used only for newly created connections. Otherwise it should break d/l obviously.

That explanation seems valid.

I searched exitnode on the web, and tho there are plenty of results, I did not really find what i was looking for. Is there a way to "fix" - or change this behaviour so the d/ls do not break?

Thanks again.

Which "new identity" feature are you using? The one in Tor Browser or the one in Vidalia? The one in the browser clears all session information and basically restarts the browser. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this cancels downloads. The "new identity" command in Vidalia on the other hand only applies to future connections and should not interfere with an ongoing download.

"seanrios"

In Vidalia open "View the Network:"

Those on the left are exit nodes. You can choose some of them and put in torrc.
This will limit your Tor to only several known IP-addresses.
