MySQL as a hidden service

Hello,

I am just wondering if it is possible to run MySQL (or any DB for that matter) as a hidden service on Tor.

The main point of all this would be to hide the servers location/IP rather than to prevent people sniffing user/pass info etc.

There would be no webserver running, just the MySQL server.

I figured with proxychains properly configured I would be able to connect to the server using the command below or similar

proxychains mysql -u USER -p'PASS' -h a1b2c3d4e5.onion DBNAME

Any suggestions here are very welcome. Info on this seems hard to come by on the net.

Haven't tried it, but as far as I know that should work. MySQL uses port 3306 (unless you've changed it) so when you create the hidden service, put that down as the virtual port, and use 127.0.0.1:3306 for the target.
