Running Hidden services

i dove head first into ubuntu, nginx, tor yesterday. pulled an old win vista dt, wiped, loaded ubuntu. found some instructions for installing lemp. after some gnashing amd hours i able to render info.php at my generated IP address. edits to nginx config. so, i can render htm/php. i was able to generate my .onion hash key address. When I point there, however, I get this error:

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at l62323232323j.onion

I can render htm/php pages on http://localhost... the local server is working just cant get local server connected to my .onion address...

how long does it take before my site shows up? how do i point my .onion address to my localhost (or is this automatic?)

can i run client only and still have .oni9on website or do i need to have relays active?

"frankyale"

Can you access other *.onion sites?
Maybe your Firefox is just not configured to use Tor as a proxy? (Usually 127.0.0.1:9050 type: Socks5)

No, being relay is not necessary.

Can you use another computer for testing? For example, install Tor Browser Bundle on your laptop and try to access your hidden server from there.
